History



1891 - Halbertsma Grouw established

Halbertsma established a factory for the production of cooper's wood for butter barrels. The wood was supplied to the coopers, who made barrels from it for dairy farmers.
1920 -

Phoenix Pallets was established in the '20s in Halfweg. After a big fire in 1929 the name Phoenix pallets was pitched. In the 60's, the factory moves to Hasselt.
1933 - Pallet factory in Assen established by F. Faber

In Assen (Netherlands), Frederik Faber started a cooper's business. He specialised in the production of butter barrels, which were bought by the dozens by dairy factories in the vicinity.
1969 - Large fire in pallet factory in Assen

After a large fire in 1969, this company specialised in the production of wooden pallets only.
1976 - Kees Faber at the helm

In 1976, Kees Faber took over his father's company. It was the precursor to a number of takeovers during the 80s.
1982 - Takeover of Gendt Pallets

The takeover wave starts in 1982 with Gendt Pallets BV. More takeovers were to follow in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
1990 - Takeover of Halbertsma Pallets Grouw

The highlight was in 1990, when Halbertsma Holding was taken over. This company, established in 1891, had grown into an important producer of pallets.
1993 - Phoenix pallets ISO certified

In 1993 Phoenix Pallets became the first pallet producer to obtain the much-prized ISO 9001 certificate.
1997 - Introduction of the Pallet Return System (PRS)

The Faber Halbertsma Group introduced the Pallet Return System (PRS) in 1997. This allows the customer not only to buy pallets, but to rent them from the group as well.
1998 - Takeover of International Pallet Pool (IPP)

In 1998, the Group took over the management of the Philips pallet pool, thus establishing IPP.
1999 - Pasec Industrieverpackung Schkopau founded

Pasec Industrieverpackung is situated at the site of one of Europe's key chemicals factories.
2000 - Takeover of Logipal, France

Takeover of the French pallet pool company Logipal in 2000. IPP and Logipal were combined under the name IPP Logipal.
2003 - T&A Pallets established

T&A Paletten came about as the result of a merger between two Dutch pallet factories in mid 2003: Gendt Pallets BV and DEF Pallets BV. T&A is situated in the Dutch German border region.
2005 - Start of IPP Logipal in the United Kingdom and Ireland

In 2005, IPP Logipal also started with an site of its own in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
2006 - Ingrid Faber at the helm

As of 1 October 2006, Kees Faber transferred the company to his daughter Ingrid Faber.
2008 - Introduction of easypal

In 2008, the Group introduced the first paper pallet in the world: easypal.
